Door2Door Volume One

What do you get when you take a camera and go door-to-door in Petaluma?
A very clear picture of a truly eclectic, creative town.

We want to thank everyone that submitted a photo to Volume One of the Door2Door event. We would also like to thank John and Anne-laure for supplying the AQUS Cafe for the evening, Bug from Heritage Salvage for supplying the 200 year old teak door that provided the backdrop for Paige Green to take her amazing photos (password AQUS).

And a huge thank you to Jeff Troiano and Steve Della Maggiora for their local music flair.

Please stop by and see the full tapestry at AQUS Cafe, it should be there for about a month.

And if you were not able to submit your door to the project, be on the lookout for Volume 2 which will hopefully be coming around the first part of 2009.

Two parts beauty and three parts creativity.

WHO SAYS YOU CAN’T TAKE OUR COMMUNITY’S UNIQUE AND ENRICHING SPIRIT AND BOTTLE IT?

That’s the idea behind PROJECT HERE - a grassroots movement connecting the citizens of Pataluma to the personalities fueling our culture and commerce. To showcase all the ingredients that go into our vibrant local community, PROJECT HERE has asked locals to fill a jar with something, anything, that represented their contribution to our town’s rich cultural tapestry. All in an effort to raise awareness of community-based commerce.

So join us and view all the people that call HERE home and find out what Petaluma is truly made of.

Wednesday evenings until August 27th we will be rolling out the welcome mat for all who want to sit and enjoy a little community picnic action.

So show up, pick some fruits and veggies and break out the dinner plates and beverages.
Then sit back a meet all the fantastic people that make up our community.

And watch for the turf to show up at other local events in need of a little community gathering.

We’ll see you HERE.

grown HERE

We can’t begin to tell you how fantastic it is to have a local farmers market, and a good one at that. There is no better place to feel like you are part of a large local family and feeling connected to the food chain that surrounds us.

The photos for the posters on this post were photographed by Jude Mooney, we can’t thank her enough for contributing to projectHERE.

We had the privelage of taking a class from Kay Baumhefner from “Come Home to Cooking” where she led a group of us through the Wednesday night market and taught us what to look for, how to prepare it and how to store it.

If you haven’t taken one of her classes before, call her now, you’ll never shop or cook the same way again.

Here is her itinerary:
